HCR President, Scott St. Clair, presents to community members on the many benefits of a recreation center.

Hosted by the Green Valley School PTO, High Country Recreation held a public interest meeting regarding the planning for and construction of a recreation center here in Watauga County. Over 30 community members, including county commissioners, the county manager, and the Chairman of the Parks and Rec Commission, Denny Norris, who is also a long time Green Valley resident, were in attendance. Discussing the various needs and benefits of a local recreation center, the meeting fostered the beginning stages towards providing Watauga County with improved physical and mental health, social connections, and an economic base through more small businesses and increased tourism.
