Prime Conditions for High Country Nordic Adventures

With all the snow that’s starting to pile up, you might as well get out and enjoy it. A growing number of High Country residents are strapping on Nordic (cross-country) skis and discovering powder adventures beyond the ski resorts. Three years ago, High Country Nordic Association formed to create a community¬† and information hub for “freeheel” enthusiasts. HCNA now has almost two hundred followers on Facebook. Some of your favorite summer hiking areas have been transformed into winter wonderlands perfect for ski exploration. Think: Elk Knob, Roan Mountain, and Grayson Highlands to name a few.
